Solomon Burke dies at Amsterdam airport at 70

On Sunday 10 October 2010 soul singer Solomon Burke has died at Amsterdam airport. He was 70 years old.

Solomon Burke wrote “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love” in 1964 and it was quickly recorded by the Rolling Stones and Wilson Pickett, and later and perhaps most famously by the Blues Brothers.

Eric Clapton played on “Thank You” from the album “Like a Fire” (released in June 2008). “Like a Fire” was produced by Steve Jordan and nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album of 2008.
Solomon Burke and Eric Clapton played together on “Message To My Son”, on the Jools Holland album “Jack O The Greeen” (2005).
