The concert was alright, but still not as good as Tampa was in my opinion. The opening was interesting, because Eric played slide on Motherless Children and then continued playing slide throughout the intro to Key to the Highway.
Doyle is playing very well, but Eric is leaning on him to play more of the parts that Eric had been doing, himself, in the past. Sometimes Eric was inspired, but more often than not he seemed to be in cruise control mode. Some good playing by Eric on the interesting songs, but nothing really spectacular except, surprisingly, on Drifting.
Highlights for me were Motherless Children, Double Trouble, Drifting, and Tell the Truth. The version of Drifting was one of the best things I have ever seen Eric do solo acoustic. It was masterful. Tell the Truth worked well for the first song of the second part of the show. Eric and Doyle both were in good form, but did not really jam with it as much as I think they could.
As you would expect with those ticket prices and the venue, the audience was horrendous. It was all of the people you would expect to see in a casino. Glad I had the chance to go to see Eric, but I could not wait to get back home!
