Bass player Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn dies in Tokyo

Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn has died in Tokyo on Sunday 13 May 2012, he was 70. He had been in Tokyo to play concerts as part of a STAX show, featuring Steve Cropper and Eddie Floyd. They played 2 shows on Saturday night at the Blue Note Night Club.

Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn was bassist for Booker T & The MGs and the original Blues Brothers band. The MGs were the house band for STAX Records. Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn can be heard on songs such as ‘Respect’ (Otis Redding), ‘ Hold On, I’m Coming’ (Sam and Dave) and ‘Born Under A Bad Sign’ (Albert King). He performed on recordings with Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eric Clapton and many more.
